Three- and five-door hatchback models were added to the Nissan Pulsar line in 1995. They were named the Pulsar Serie. The regular performance model in the Serie series is the Nissan Pulsar Serie VZ-R. It has a 1.6-liter dual overhead cam inline four-cylinder engine with the VVL variable valve timing and lift system.
This allows it to generate a maximum of 173hp and 113 Ib-ft of torque. It has a specific power output that rivals that of the Honda Civic Type R. But there is an even more powerful version of the Pulsar Serie, the VZ-R N1. It is a limited-production model, and, as its name suggests, it is designed for N1 competition.
Weight is decreased by omitting comfort and convenience items of no use for racing. The Nissan Pulsar Serie VZ-R N1 has a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 197hp. Since it is a limited-production car, its production run sold out quickly. But it has been re-released several times.
